Rotary public urinal inaugurated, home aided

Rotary Club district governor Sukhminder Singh, accompanied by the first lady of the district, Sumita, visited Rotary Club of Imphal on Monday and engaged in 3 series of activities aimed at enhancing community service and fostering Rotary's commitment to societal development.
Among other activities, Sukhminder inaugurated the Rotary Public Urinal Shed' constructed under Rotary's community service project by Rotary Club of Imphal (RCI) at Tera Ideal Club (TIC) in Imphal West district and dedicated the facility to the public in the presence of RCI president Saratchandra Phijam, immediate past president Dr Sanjib Nepram, TIC president and locals.
Earlier in the day, Sukhminder, along with the first lady Sumita, PDG Rajesh Agarwal, assistant governor Devkumar Thoudam, Saratchandra Phijam, and other Rotary members, visited Punya Children Home, Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai and handed over 990 eggs for the residents as part of Rotary's 'Egg Bank Project' and other essential items, besides pledging to provide three computer sets to the home to improve the children's access to educational resources.
Later in the afternoon, the district governor attended the assembly of the RCI at Rotary Bhavan in Mantripukhri, followed by regular weekly meeting, during which various vocational awards and certificates were distributed to winners of the 49th Rotary-On-The-Spot Painting Competition 2024 .
In Group-A, Kh Joy Meitei & Kh Chandra Meitei of Wangkhei High School, and L Henthoibi Chanu of Heritage Convent took the first, second, and third prize respectively.
In Group-B, the first, second, and third prize were awarded to Seram Jairaj Meitei of Nongpok Maheikol, Lily Rose Mariya Tamang of Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School, and Phudam Sinam of Rama Krishna Mission School respectively.
The Senator Okram Memorial Rotary Footballer of the Year award was presented to Thokchom Martina of Yourabung Khunou, Th Dhanendra Memorial Rotary Artisan of the Year award to Brahmacharimayum Banamali Sharma of Khongman, and the Chongtham Ongbi Ka-lavati Devi Memorial Rotary Young Entrepreneur of the Year award to Hei Lei Creations of Sagolband Meino Leirak.
Retired veterinary services director Dr Joykumar, and actress Yengkhom Roma Devi were also honoured with Senior Citizen Awards.
During the meeting, Ranjit Sharma was inducted as a new member of the Rotary Club of Imphal.
