Sensitisation prog on Sangai Day held

A one-day students' sensitisation programme on Sangai Day was organised at the auditorium of Sambanlei Sekpil School, Kumbi in Bishnupur district on Saturday.
The programme was attended by National Teacher awardee and Kumbi College governing body chairman Moirangthem Mangi, Sangai First Foundation managing trustee Dr Kh Samungou Singh and trustee K Jugeshor as presidium members, a release by Sangai First Foundation media coordinator Budha Khwairakpam said.
In his address, Dr Kh Samungou reflected on the historical significance of December 10 as Sangai Day, called for discussing the origin of Keibul Lamjao National Park and providing ecological, environmental, and biological information about the Sangai deer.
Meanwhile, K Jugeshor highlighted that objective of the discourse is to raise awareness on conservation, reverse loss of biodiversity, and protect nature for future generations.
He encouraged students to become ambassadors for Sangai deer conservation and guardians of the environment and ecology.
A spot quiz test was also conducted as a part of the programme attended by 145 students and teachers, it added.
