Saratkumar named state RO for BJP polls

Imphal, October 22 2024: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh general secretaries K Saratkumar Singh and P Premananda Meetei and secretary K Ina-ocha Devi have been respectively appointed as returning officer, and co-returning officers to oversee conduct of the party's organisational election (Sangathan Parv).

Following appointment of Dr K Laxman as the national returning officer in the runup to party's the organisational elections, the national returning officer on October 18 relayed to BJP state president A Sharda Devi on enlistment of Saratkumar, Premananda and Inaocha Devi as returning officer and co-returning officers respectively.

BJP generally conducts organisational elections every three years but BJP state unit's election in 2019-20 was not held due to COVID-19 pandemic with election due in 2023 also put on hold in view of the communal conflict that broke out on May 3, 2023 .
