In a significant move toward youth empowerment and nationbuilding, the Assam Rifles conducted a comprehensive instructional session for NCC cadets at the Keithelmanbi Garrison.
As per a release issued by HQ IGAR(South), the training aimed to strengthen military proficiency by imparting essential navigation and map-reading skills to the younger generation.
A total of 24 NCC cadets, consisting of 12 boys and 12 girls from the 65 Manipur Girls NCC Battalion, participated in the structured programme led by experienced Assam Rifles personnel.
The training effectively integrated theoretical and practical navigation techniques, covering essential skills such as map setting, determining positions, map-to-ground correlation, ground-to-map translation and distance estimation.
Through outdoor exercises and demonstrations, cadets gained hands-on exposure that allowed them to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and ground realities.
Interactive sessions and specialized training aids were utilized to bolster their confidence and technical understanding.
Beyond foundational skills, the cadets were briefed on new-generation military equipment currently utilized by the Assam Rifles, providing them with a clear look into modem operational capabilities.
A key highlight of the session was a visit to the Drone Training Node.
There, cadets were familiarized with the employment of drones for surveillance and operational tasks, expanding their knowledge into the technological domains of modem defense.
The engagement reflected the continued commitment of the Assam Rifles toward fostering leadership, teamwork, and civil-military bonding.
