Imphal, August 18 2024:
Condemning the attack by unknown miscreants who triggered a bomb explosion at the gate of Kshetrigao assembly constituency former MLA Nahakpam Indrajit at Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai on Saturday, meira paibi activists of the locality staged a sit-in protest and demanded explanation from the perpetrators and justification for such dastardly act.
Speaking to reporters during the sit-in held at Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai community hall, Nahakpam Rekha, wife of Indrajit, recounted that on July 25, a social media post by the KCP (Progressive) group accused her husband of involvement in drug-related activities.
The said post generated 300-400 shares, implying that it intended to make an impact, apart from the said post evoking hate comments.
While asserting that her husband has been actively fighting the menace of drug abuse not only in the constituency but across the state, she dismissed the allegations as unfounded and malicious.
Rekha also remembered that the day after the Face-book post, her husband's photograph was pasted on walls and electric poles at some locations of Kshetrigao assembly constituency, branding him as a drug lord, with leaflets also distributed reminiscing an election campaign.
Opining that such activities seem intended to draw political mileage, she called those responsible to justify their actions.
