Assam Rifles marks 80th I-Day with patriotic rallies, cultural events across Manipur

Assam Rifles celebrated the 80th Independence Day across Manipur with a series of patriotic rallies, musical and cultural programmes, flag-hoisting ceremonies and community outreach activities on August 14 and 15 .
According to IGAR (South), the celebration brought together local communities, students, youth, ex-servicemen, civil administration representatives and Assam Rifles personnel across several districts.
In Thoubal district, Assam Rifles organised a Band Display and Cultural Programme at the historic Khongjom War Memorial on August 14 .
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Thoubal Yumnam Robita, SP Thoubal Manoj Prabhakar M, Deputy Commissioner Kakching Angeline Renita R and SP Kakching Priyadarshini Laishram, among others.
Around 350 people, including students, NCC cadets, local residents, civil administration representatives, Assam Rifles personnel and their families, participated in the programme and paid tribute to freedom fighters.
The event featured Khukri Dance and synchronised Pipe and Jazz Band displays, besides cultural performances by NCC cadets and students of Assam Rifles Public School, Kakching, Mission Blind School and Khongjom English Standard Higher Secondary School.
In Ukhrul, a Pipe Band Display was organised at Bakshi Ground on August 15, drawing around 300 local residents.
In Churachandpur, a Tiranga Rally was organised at Kangkap Village with 40 students and eight teachers of Convention English School, followed by mass singing of the National Anthem.
A musical interaction involving 50 local youth and the Assam Rifles Jazz Band was also held.
Outreach activities at an IDP camp included distribution of Tricolours, carrom boards and sweets to children.

NCC girl cadets and schoolchildren were also conducted, with students presenting the anthem "Hum Sab Bharatiya Hain" .
In Kamjong, Assam Rifles conducted flag distribution, flagdignity awareness drives and a Tiranga Rally at Aishi village on August 14, followed by mass singing of 'Vande Mataram' on August 15 to mark its 150th anniversary.
Flag-hoisting and tribute programmes were held across Ukhrul and Kamjong, including a wreath-laying ceremony at Shangshak War Memorial.
A senior Assam Rifles official and the Shangshak village headman paid homage alongside local residents and force personnel.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies were also conducted at Assam Rifles Public School Shangshak, JNV Ramva and various Company Operating Bases.
At Somsai Garrison, ceremonies were held at Headquarters Assam Rifles and the NIEDO Centre, involving personnel, civilians, students and staff.
In Tengnoupal district flaghoisting, tree plantation under the 'Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative and environmental awareness drives were conducted at Kwatha, Khudengthabi and Tengnoupal.
At Moreh, an awareness drive on 'Vande Mataram' and a flaghoisting ceremony involved nearly 100 students.
The celebrations were also held across Chandel and Kakching districts, covering areas including Kakching, Sehlon, Joupi, Molcham, Sajik Tampak, Gampazhol, Shalluk and Old Samtal.
According to IGAR (South), the initiatives combined patriotic and military traditions with community participation, while promoting national pride, unity, youth engagement and goodwill between the security forces and the people of Manipur.
