Indian Army provides timely assistance to snake bite victim in Bishnupur

Bishnupur, June 17 2026:
An Indian Army medical team at Bishnupur Camp provided timely emergency medical assistance to a 63-year-old snake bite victim from Bishnupur district on June 16 .
According to PIB (Defence Wing), the victim, identified as Leisangtham Bimeshwar, sustained the snake bite while working in a farm in Bishnupur district He reported to the Medical Aid Post after experiencing pain and progressive swelling in his right hand and forearm.
During medical examination, the Army medical team detected a visible fang mark at the base of his right thumb along with early signs of swelling in the affected limb.
The team immediately initiated emergency treatment including wound care, immobilisation of the affected limb, anti-tetanus prophylaxis, oxygen support, intravenous fluids and continuous monitoring of his condition.
Considering the potential seriousness of snake envenomation, the RMO coordinated with District Hospital, Bishnupur, and arranged immediate evacuation for advanced medical care.
The victim was subsequently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, where he continues to receive specialised treatment.
