The shutdown, which was slated to begin from midnight of June 17, has been deferred till midnight of June 18 in view of the observance of the Great June Uprising Unity Day at Kekrupat on Wednesday.
In a video message shared on social media, Pangal Tem Manipur stated that the proposed statewide shutdown shall be put on hold till June 18 midnight to allow the people of Manipur pay homage to the 18 martyrs who laid down their lives in the June 18, 2001 protest.
The group also expressed full support for the decisions and agitations led by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the killing of Abdul Kadir.
It urged the Governor and the government to fulfil the demands raised by the JAC within the given timeline.
Pangal Tem Manipur further announced its readiness to launch various forms of democratic agitations in collaboration with other CSOs across the state if the demands are not met.
The key demands put forth by the JAC include: immediate handing over of the Abdul Kadir murder case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), declare 'AT' as outlawed organisation if the main accused, an AT member, is not brought to justice, continuation of public agitations until justice is delivered, solidarity and active participation of all CSOs and Meira Paibi groups to ensure justice for Abdul Kadir.
