Awareness campaign on Kharif paddy disease management held at Heirok

Thoubal, July 15 2026: An awareness campaign on disease and pest management in Kharif paddy was organised at Heirok Part-III on Wednesday by the District Agriculture Office, Thoubal, in collaboration with the Manipur Farmers' Association.

Held under the initiative of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur, the programme was attended by more than 200 farmers from the Heirok area.

During the campaign, Dr M Thoithoi Singh, Consultant, Crop Solutions Centre for Plant Health, Manipur, and National Awardee (Mushroom) Punil Angom delivered technical sessions on disease and pest management in paddy cultivation.

Th Momoko, Village Extension Worker (VEW), District Agriculture Office, Thoubal, briefed the participants on the PM-KISAN scheme and Crop Insurance, while VEW Kh Rajen also attended the programme.

Speaking on behalf of the farmers, Shinthangamba Laishram expressed gratitude to the experts for sharing valuable knowledge on scientific crop management, PM-KISAN updates and the benefits of crop insurance.

He said the information would help farmers safeguard their livelihoods, particularly during natural calamities such as droughts and floods.

He further observed that such awareness programmes would greatly benefit the farming community if extended to every comer of the State, and appealed to the Agriculture Department to continue organising similar initiatives in the future to keep farmers informed and better equipped with modem agricultural practices.
