Imphal, September 14 2026: The Singjamei Keithel Street Vendors Union was formed on Monday under the aegis of All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur.

The vendors have been selling along the Singjamei to Kongba roadside for many years.

The meeting was presided over by AITUC Manipur president S Yaima and general secretary L Sotinkumar.

Sotinkumar said the vendors.

mainly Meitei, Meitei Pangal and tribal women from the hills, are selling in the scorching sun and rain.

However, some people are trying to evict them and prohibit them from vending.

Such acts are not allowed under the Street Vendors Act as it is their right, he said, urging them to stop such actions.

The meeting also elected office bearers of the union.

Leishangthem Angoubi was elected as president, Th Tanuja as vice president, H Ibecha as secretary and Sayangla RK as assistant secretary unanimously.
