North East Kala Academy inaugurated at Lakhipur

Jiribam, July 14 2026: A new performing arts institute, North East Kala Academy, Lakhipur, was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Mutum Leikai Community Hall, Singerband, Lakhipur, under the initiative of the United North East Charitable Society, Guwahati.

The inaugural function was presided over by Yumnam Mani Singha, president of the Sepoy Mutiny Memorial Protection Committee.

Among those present as guests of honour were retired Irrigation Department Secretary RK Gopalsana.

retired ACS officer Kangabam Shantee Kumar Singha, member of the Manipuri Language Advisory Board of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, KN Chand, president of the All Assam Manipuri Women Meira Paibi Co-ordinator Committee Konjengbam Ongbi Aruna Devi, and MMC, Assam vice-president S Subhankar Singha.

On the occasion, a 12-member managing committee of the academy was also constituted.

Yumnam Mani Singha was appointed chairman.

Changkhramayum Bidit as vice-chairman, Mutum Romen Singha as convenor, and Mutum Ranjit Singha as treasurer.
