Media fellowship meet on climate change held

As a part of the 5th State Level Media Fellowship oh Climate Change, which aims at training media professionals on this pressing issue, a media interaction was held at the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Porompat, Imphal East on Monday.
The programme chaired by Environment and Climate Change director, and principal investigator of State Climate Change Cell Dr T Brajakumar Singh, also had senior journalist and coordinator Sobhabati Samom and development officer Dr N Sanamacha.
Dr Brajakumar urged the fellowship recipients to actively participate and clarify any doubts they may have, emphasising that the programme is focused on research-based journalism.
He stressed the importance of attending all interaction programmes organised by the department to enhance their understanding and coverage of climate change issues.
He advised the recipients to simplify their writing and reporting so that everyone can easily understand the subject matter.
Maintaining that climate change is dynamic and called for collective efforts to tackle it.
"Talk to the villagers what they feel about the changes taking place in their surroundings," maintained the director.
He further encouraged the recipients to connect and interact with diverse people including youth, intellectuals, and elderly ones and listen to what they have to say about the ongoing climate change impact.
A total of 10 print and electronic media professionals have been selected for the fellowship.
They will research and report on the theme Climate Change,' with sub-themes focusing on 'Health and Climate Change', 'Agriculture and Climate Change', and 'Water Resources and Climate Change' .
