Imphal, July 11 2025: Manipur People s Party (MPP) newly elected president Sorensangbam Brojen has stated that only a regional party like MPP can save Manipur and its indigenous people.

He further said that if a regional party like MPP had been in power, the conflict would not have lasted over two years.

In an exclusive interview with The People's Chronicle on Friday, Brojen stated that MPP is the only political party which is most suited and truly sincere towards the state and the people.

He said that when the party held power, it ensured and saw to various developments in the state.

Md Alimuddin and RK Ranbir led the state as chief ministers, a proud moment for the state.

Thus, it is time to strengthen MPP, which has its roots in the state, to help strengthen the state and protect its indigenous population, he stressed.

Brojen continued that the state has seen how the Congress and BJP governments have been unsuitable for the state.

The MLAs of these parties only follow the central leaders, while gagging the voices of the people of Manipur.

As such, many innocent lives have been lost and even now, the people cannot move about freely in their own land.

He maintained that people can clearly see how the national parties accord importance to their leaders, irrespective of the fact that these parties are unable to maintain peace in the state.

The President's Rule in the state was also imposed by a national political party, he said, while questioning whether the President's Rule is BJP's gift of love to the people of Manipur.

Brojen further said that while they continue to preach that Manipur's integrity would be preserved, the situation says otherwise.

Thus, to prevent the same, there is a need for consensus amongst the people.

MPP would be the one to pave the way to unity and integrity, he asserted, adding that if the people help strengthen a regional party like MPP, no one would be able to threaten the territorial integrity and unity of Manipur.

MPP can save the indigenous people of the state and also restore peace and security in the state.

For this, the party is planning to field candidates in 40 seats in Imphal valley, he informed, and urged the people to extend their support to the regional party.
