Imphal, April 11 2025:
Ahead of observance of 'Athoubasinggi Numit', which it observes every year on April 13 as Martyrs' Day, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) and its armed wing - People's Liberation Army (PLA) paid their highest revolutionary honours to all the martyrs who laid down their lives during the course of liberation movement of Manipur.
RPF and PLA also extended their highest regards to all rendered physically immobile owing to brutal torture by personnel of the adversary forces and also to all the suffering 'countrymen' on the occasion.
While reminding the people that the organisation observes April 13 as 'Athoubasinggi Numit' or Martyrs' Day every year in honour of the supreme sacrifices made by valiant fighters during the course of liberation struggle, the RPF appealed all the communities of Manipur irrespective of hills and valley dwellers to pay homage at memorial tombs of the martyrs as done in the past.
The proscribed organisation also appealed to the people not to organise any entertainment programme or feast on the day except those related with religious ceremonies.
According to an RPF statement issued by publicity secretary Roben Khuman, many brave revolutionaries laid down their lives during the Kodompokpi battle of April 13, 1982 for the sake of future of the oppressed people of Manipur.
However, the spirit of revolutionary movement ignited by brave revolutionaries during the Kodompokpi battle continues to guide the ongoing movement for regaining the lost sovereignty of Manipur.
Many battles were fought in the past for regaining the sovereignty of Manipur and many more is inevitable as brave revolutionaries continue the fight without any hesitation.
However, India has been utilising all its might to undermine and confuse people on the sacrificing spirit of martyred revolutionaries.
Instead of fighting the revolutionaries directly, India is making heavy investment to lure naive community foment ethnic violence with the same being witnessed in Manipur since May, 2023.Even as many people have been killed and more than 60,000 people displaced with their homes reduced to ashes in the ongoing violence, Indian leaders are still reluctant to pay attention, thereby making clearer their mindset of 'colonial' rulers, the RPF statement said.
While appealing to the people to remain vigilant on evil designs and nefarious policies of India, the RPF statement said now is not to the time to hurl accusations among communities as it would be disastrous for all the indigenous communities of Manipur if they are entrapped in India's divisive policy.
It is natural for colonial powers to adopt divisive policy in the colonised land facing resistance movement, the RPF statement said and appealed people of Manipur to understand that all those promoting ethnic vio-lence/war are class-collaborator and people should not to follow them.
Deeply concerned over the rising drug trade and its impact on youth and students, the RPF said the reason behind thousands of Indian forces remaining inactive to increasing poppy cultivation in the vast hills and drug trade is to destroy the entire youth of Manipur.
Where have thousands of Indian forces deployed in Manipur gone when scores of youth went missing and even a teenager who went missing with vehicle could not be found still, that too under the President's Rule and direct control of Delhi, the RPF said and termed these incidents as dehumanising of colonised people by the colonial rulers.
According to the RPF statement, the ongoing artificial war orchestrated by Delhi has severely affected economy and social fabric of the people and it would be very hard to bring improvement or normalise.
