Assam Rifles conducts Yoga outreach in remote Chandel villages

Chandel, June 09 2026: In a concerted push to bring holistic wellness to India's furthest frontiers, the Assam Rifles spearheaded a series of yoga sessions across the remote border villages in Chandel district.

According to IGAR (South), the extensive health campaign forms part of the ongoing nationwide 100-day countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, aligning local participation with this year's global theme, 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing" .

Centred at Aibol Joupi, the initiative successfully bridged the gap between remote communities and vital healthcare practices by introducing a self-sustaining framework for mental and physical fitness.

The immersive sessions drew active engagement from approximately 50 local villagers who joined 120 personnel from the force in performing a structured sequence of traditional practices.

Certified instructors seamlessly guided the participants through vital physical warm-ups, traditional Asanas, deep Pranayama breathing techniques and calming meditation.

Each practice was meticulously curated to improve joint flexibility, enhance mental concentration, reduce daily stress and fortify individual immunity.

The primary objective of the drive was to illustrate the practical, long-term benefits of regular practice in everyday life.

Instructors emphasized its special relevance for local students navigating intense academic pressure and for rural families maintaining physical resilience despite limited local healthcare facilities.

By fostering a collective environment of discipline and mindfulness, the ongoing drive has left a profound impact on the region, earning deep gratitude from village authorities while significantly strengthening civil-military cooperation.
