Modern College celebrates 64th Foundation Day

Imphal, August 08 2026: Modem College, Porompat celebrated its 64th Foundation Day cum Annual Merit Award distribution today at the Multipurpose Hall of the college.

The function was graced by L Radhakanta, Director, University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur as chief guest; A Rama Sanker Sharma, Joint Director, University and Higher Education as guest of honour; Ch Rajen, Chairperson, Modem College Merit Award Trust as special guest; and Prof N Romabati, Principal, Modem College as president.

As part of the function, floral tributes were paid to the portraits of the founder members of the college.

Speaking on the occasion, L Radhakanta said most colleges in Manipur lack proper fencing, leading to encroachment of college land.

A proposal for fencing of colleges has been submitted.

He said protection of college campus land is necessary.

He added that many colleges lack adequate infrastructure including halls and libraries.

The matter has been discussed with the Minister and a project for development of infrastructure of colleges will be taken up.

Merit awards were also distributed to students on the occasion.
