Declare COCOMI outlawed organisation: KIM to Amit Shah

Imphal, June 08 2023: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has submitted a memorandum to Union home minister reiter-ating the demand for separate administration and to declare Coordinating Committee on Ma-nipur Integrity (COCOMI) as an outlawed organisation.

Maintaining that more threats are looming over the Kuki people, Kuki Inpi stated in the memorandum that they are not only facing state sponsored terrorism acts at various frontlines areas bordering Meitei territory in the aftermath of the violence in the valley, but Kuki peo-ple are also facing direct and open threats from the Meeteis yet again.

The well - calculated and systematic suppression, oppression, threats, and all atrocities on the Kuki people physically and mentally justify the demand for total separation from Manipur fora long-lasting peace to prevail in the region and settle the problem once and for all, it added.

KIM stated that COCOMI has openly declared war on Chin-Ku-ki narco- terrorists' as decided in the people's convention or-ganised by them on Wednesday.

"Meitei Leepun chief has warned of delivering a powerful 'blow' to the Kuki which we cannot even defend and wipe out the whole Kuki tribal population soon.

We are now facing the real existential threat from neighbouring Meeteis, which categorically rejects the idea of living together again," stated the Inpi memorandum.

It also alleged that the building up hatred and enmity between Kuki and Meeteis culminated into a pogrom.

They give sorts of names such as illegal immi-grants, outsiders, tenants, poppy planters, forest encroachers, ter-rorists, drugs dealers to the Kuki people, and now they coined a new term narco-terrorists thus making their communal agenda quite evident, it added.

The memorandum further stated that the man who unleashed terror on innocent Kuki people in Imphal valley since May 3, unabated ag-gression on Kuki ancestral land in areas bordering Meetei territory and the one who orchestrated these catastrophes on Kuki people qual-ifies to be called a 'terrorist'.

Peo-ple of the state, including Meetei CSOs are very much aware who this person is, it added.

Meetei CSOs coined the term 'narco- terrorists' in their frantic attempt to garner support and justify the vi-olence to suit their majori-tarian agenda.

It has become clearer now that the ethnic cleansing on Kuki people in Imphal valley is funded by 'narco- terrorists', who are very powerful and others who are close to power, the memorandum said.

The memorandum also mentioned how Uripok MLA Kh Raghumani wrote a letter to the union home minister requesting for ex-pedited action in the Delhi police-Manipur Drugs case of February 2023.The MLA underlined that the people of Manipur truly believe that there are very well connect-ed, and very powerful polit-ical families involved in the menace of drugs business in the state.

It also mentioned the res-ignation of a lady MPS officer to register protest against the 2018 drug case dealing by the Biren government.

In this case too and as per the affidavit of the lady MPS officer, people who are very close to the CM were said to be involved.

Sadly, no major drug seizure cases including those two remain unsolved.

Speculation is rife among the public that the fund generat-ed through these drug trades by people in power is being used to finance the current violence campaign against Kuki people in Manipur.

"While we also support such war on narco-terrorists, cutting across communal di-vides, particularly the king-pins, COCOMI chose to add a communal colour to their 'War' by dragging the name 'Chin-Kaki'," the memo-randum said adding that the reason why COCOMI did not declare war on 'Meetei Narco-Terrorists' or other communities shows their hy-pocrisy and their open dislike of Kuki tribal community.

It is also worthy to mention here that the COCOMI's pub-lic consultation also resolved not to surrender looted arms saying that this is not the time to surrender arms rather a time to arm all abled per-sons.

It also avowed not to allow combing operations in the valley.

They even asked the government to provide arms to the public so that they continue causing havoc to helpless Kuki people, KIM said in its memorandum.

The fear and apprehen-sion to live together again with the Meeteis are real and irrefutable, KIM said while urging for expediting the process for total separation from the Meetei people.

KIM also urged the union home minister to initiate steps to outlaw COCOMI for openly inciting communal passion.
