Imphal, March 06 2025:
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, has launched its annual routine recovery drive across the country for the period from January to March 2025 .
A press statement issued in this regard by Special State Office, Imphal, has advised defaulting employers and establishments to clear their outstanding dues immediately without further delay.
The statement said that as part of its policy, EPFO initiates coercive action under the provisions of the EPF & MP Act, 1952, before the financial year closes to recover dues from defaulting establishments and employers.
All such defaulter employers have already been issued Revenue Recovery Certificates in the name of either the establishment or the owner.
Employers or establishments that continue to default even after repeated reminders are strictly urged to clear their outstanding dues to avoid coercive actions.
The EPFO emphasised that defaulting in compliance directly affects poor workers and employees, who are the ultimate beneficiaries of social security schemes.
Any employer or owner defaulting in the payment of EPF dues ultimately harms the workforce, who rely on their hard-earned savings for future financial security under the EPF & MP Act, 1952 .
To safeguard the interests of workers and their families, EPFO provides a range of services and benefits.
Additionally, the Act prescribes various penal actions against establishments or employers who fail to comply with EPF regulations.
EPFO is identifying defaulting employers and establishments that have been avoiding the extension of social security benefits to rightful beneficiaries, whether intentionally or otherwise.
In this regard, EPFO has already issued recovery notices under different sections of the EPF & MP Act, 1952 to all major defaulting establishments.
The additional provident fund commissioner (NER) has instructed field offices to take coercive recovery actions against employers who habitually evade payment of assessed dues.
All defaulting establishments are once again reminded to remit their outstanding dues, which have already been intimated to them, to avoid prosecution and further coercive action from the recovery section, the statement added.
