Students Wellness Clinic inaugurated

Imphal, July 04 2026: A Students Wellness Clinic was inaugurated Saturday at TG Higher Secondary School, Imphal, jointly by Share and Care, Wangkhei, and the school authorities.

The clinic will provide counselling and mental health support to students, staff and others associated with the school once a week, or four times a month Dr RK Lenin, founder of Share and Care, said adolescents aged 10-19 constitute 20% of India's population and mental health issues often begin around age 14.He stressed that due to academic pressure, substance abuse and relationship stress, counselling and awareness are essential at this stage.

He also noted that NEP 2020 recommends appointing counsellors in every school.

Dr Lenin added that the project is being piloted at TG School due to its large student strength, and will be expanded to other schools if successful.

The inaugural programme was attended by School Principal Dr Vinita Elangbam, and former AIR Imphal HOP A Geetchandra.
