Sit-in protests 'biasness' of central forces

Imphal, July 04 2024:
Denouncing alleged prejudiced attitude and conduct of central forces, meira paibi activists of Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi, Yaingangpokpi, Santikhongbal and Sabungkhok Khunou villages under Imphal east district staged sit-in protest at Yaingangpokpi Keithel on Thursday.
During the sit-in, the participants used placards inscribed with slogans like 'Save Manipur', 'Conduct combing operation in the hills if shots fired from the hills', 'Central forces should return if they couldn't protect villagers', 'We condemn atrocities on valley dwellers' and 'We want peace' among others.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, one Oinam Chandrabali denounced frequent firing attacks by Kuki militants towards Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi, Yaingangpokpi, Santikhongbal and Sabungkhok Khunou.
On July 2, the Kuki militants carried out attack using explosives, she said, while ridiculing motive of the central forces for conducting search operation in plains contrary to the Kuki militants attacking from the nearby hill ranges.
Demanding removal of bunkers set up by Kuki militants in the hill ranges nearby Thamnapokpi and Yaingangpokpi villages, she said that Kuki militants are attacking at will regardless of presence of central forces.
The protestors also raised slogans against the indifferent attitude of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah towards the people Manipur.
