According to a statement issued by Raj Bhavan, Tuesday's security gathering of top civil and security officials was a follow-up meeting after the security situation of the state was reviewed at a meeting held in New Delhi recently, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Meanwhile, an informed source said that Tuesday's security meeting thoroughly discussed the overall security scenario in the state and steps being taken up to restore peace and normalcy.
The meeting also discussed about combined operation involving all the security forces deployed in the state with active coordination and communication.
Notably, Ajay Kumar Bhalla assumed charge as the 19th Governor of Manipur on January 3, 2025 and reviewed law and order situation by chairing the first ever high level security meeting on January 5 .
During the meeting, the Governor advised the DGP to prioritise safety and security of the people and further asked army and paramilitary forces to assist the state administration in maintaining law and order.
In a significant step aimed at restoring peace and normalcy, Governor Ajay Bhalla had on February 20 appealed to people to surrender arms within seven days.
In honour of Governor's appeal, many people including Arambai Tenggol and village volunteers returned looted or illegally held weapons.
The Governor then extended time of surrender of weapons till March 6, which is also evoking fairly positive response with people handing over weapons at different police stations and security posts.
