Second phase: Poll teams leave for polling stations

Thoubal, March 04 2022: Polling officials including security personnel and staff who would be engaged in the conduct of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election in respect of 10 assembly constituencies in Thoubal and Kakching districts were dispersed from mini secretariat, DC Complex, BASU Ground Khangabok and Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School ground for their respective polling stations on Friday.

The DC Complex was the dispersal point for polling personnel assigned for duty in three assembly constituencies of Thoubal, Wangjing Tentha and Heirok.

Polling personnel for the four assembly constituencies of Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sugnu were dispersed from Basu Ground whereas polling personnel for Lilong, Wangkhem and Khangabok assembly constituencies were dispersed from Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School ground.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manipur Rajesh Agarwal also inspected the dispersal point of polling personnel and took stock of the preparedness in the two districts.

More than 1500 polling personnel are being deployed in 395 polling stations including 4 auxiliary polling stations for the 10 assembly constituencies.

A total of 3,24,561 electors including 1,65,259 females and 28 transgender voters will exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 46 candidates in the 10 constituencies.

Out of 391 polling stations in these constituencies spread across Thoubal and Kakching districts, 71 polling stations will be fully manned by women polling personnel.

In adherence to COVID-19 SOPs, every polling station in the two districts will be sanitised before the voting process begins and voters will be provided hand sanitiser and face mask if required.

SVEEP publicity van reached out to the public for a last minute voters' education, reminding voters of the various ECI measures and apps like C-VIGIL and encouraging voter turnout and ethical voting by covering areas including Wabagai Bazar, Pallel Bazar, Yairipok Bazar, Yairipok Khoirom and Heirok Bazar.
