Search operations continue; arms, ammos recovered

Weapons and ammunition were seized as security forces sustain search operations in different parts of the state.
According to PRO IGAR (S), Assam Rifles in collaboration with Manipur police and other security forces made significant recoveries of weapons and warlike stores across multiple districts.
The joint operations involved use of explosive detection dogs, metal detectors and other state of the art equipment, informed the PRO in a release.
It stated that on August 28, acting on specific intelligence about the presence of arms and ammunition in Sekmaijin area of Kakching district, Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched search operation which led to the recovery of one Sten Mk V rifle, two 12 bore single barrel rifles, two 9mm pistols, nine hand grenades and other war-like stores.
In another intelligence based joint operation on August 30 in Kangpokpi district launched by Assam Rifles with Manipur police in general area of Changsang near Sagolmang and Ekau Mullam near Saikul, one Soviet rifle, one local made rifle, a bolt action rifle, one 0.22 pistol, one improvised mortar, six pompis and war like stores were recovered.
Similarly, search operations conducted on September 1 in Churachandpur, Tengnoupal and Chandel districts resulted in the recovery of one each 51mm mortar, MA-3 Mk-II, AK-47 and .303 rifle, two Lathode guns, six 9mm pistols, seven single-barrel 12 bore guns, two .22 rifles, twelve single-barrel 12 bore guns; eleven pompi guns, 49 improvised explosive devices, grenades, tear gas shells, ammunition and war like stores, the PRO said, adding that all the recovered items have been handed over to Manipur police.
Meanwhile, as per police reports, a joint team of Kakching district police and BSF searched 45 houses and verified 75 individuals in Pallel Mamang Leikai area from 5:30 am to 6:30 am Tuesday while a joint team of Thoubal district police and BSF searched 45 houses and verified 150 individuals in Chandel Langathem area from 4:30 am to 6:30 am.
However, there is no report of arrest made or seizure of arms in both the Operations.
