Senapati, June 03 2025:
All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) on Tuesday concluded its two-day government office picketing campaign in the Naga hill districts.
Expressing gratitude to all individuals and organisations for their steadfast support in ensuring the peaceful and democratic execution of the agitation, an ANSAM release described the day as marking the "successful culmination" of its protest against the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the construction of the Indo-Myanmar border fencing, which the association claims infringes upon the rights and territorial integrity of the Naga people.

"While we are ending the office picketing today, our people's movement will continue until there is a complete halt to the border fencing and the reinstatement of the FMR in our homeland," ANSAM declared.
The students' body, in coordination with its constituent and subordinate units, and support of the United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Women's Union (NWU), civil society organisations, activists, and well-wishers, successfully carried out peaceful picketing in all Naga-inhabited hill districts.
The protest was a response to the Government of India s decision to dismantle the FMR on February 8, 2024, and to proceed with the construction of a border fence that, according to the association, violates the traditional rights of the Naga people to free and unhindered movement across ancestral lands.
ANSAM expressed profound appreciation to its units, volunteers, participants, the public, and members of the media for their solidarity and support in its fight against what it termed the "sinister policy" of the government of India aimed at further dividing the Nagas.
The association further called on the Naga public to remain vigilant and continue supporting its future initiatives in defence of Naga rights and interests.
It also issued a stern warning that any violation of these rights by law enforcement agencies would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
