FIR registered over gun salute

Police have registered an FIR in connection with a gun salute incident that took place on Saturday at Saikul in Kangpokpi district.
Authorities have summoned local leaders and elders to the police station for questioning.
Raids have been conducted across several areas to arrest those involved, leading to the seizure of five single-barrel guns and camouflage uniforms.
Police said operations will continue to apprehend the miscreants and recover remaining weapons, and that the event organisers will be dealt with according to the law.
Earlier on Friday, police arrested two cadres of the proscribed KCP (PWG) from Mayang Imphal for alleged extortion from government offices, schools, shopkeepers, and the general public.
They were identified as Yumkhaibam Sagir Khan alias Ibungo alias Manao alias Manaokat (23) of Kairang Heikrumakhong, and Salam Sadananda alias Chombi Meitei (27) of Mayang Imphal Thana Wangkhei Leikai.
A mobile phone was recovered from the duo.
In a separate case, one Koireng.-led UNLF cadre, identified as Konsam Romesh Meitei (46) of Kongba Bazar Kshetri Leikai under Irilbung police station, Imphal East, from his residence.
He was involved in extortion activities from Gas agencies, schools, colleges, shopkeepers and government Institutions located at Bishnupur district and Imphal area.
One four-wheeler was seized from his possession.
Further follow-up on a major drug bust on April 29 involving seizure of 274.8 kg of ganja led to the arrest of two more individuals.
The duo were identified as Leishangthem Ratan Meitei (50) of Khongampat Mayai Leikai, and Seram Arunjit Meitei alias Biju (33) of Pungdongbam Makha Leikai.
In a state wide crackdown, police recovered seven stolen vehicles on Friday and arrested an illegal arms smuggler from Chingmeirong near Bazar India Shopping Mall, identified as Konsam Romeo Singh (50) of Sawombung Maniyaiskul.
One 9mm pistol with ammunition, a mobile phone, cash, and an ID card were seized from his possession.
Another individual, identified as Chongtham Ebungo Singh (20) of Lamboi Khongnangkhong, was arrested from near the Jama Masjid area in Lilong for vehicle theft.
The car, a Maruti Wagon R stolen from Thangmeiband area, was traced to a complaint lodged earlier that day at Imphal PS .
