Five arrested; arms & ammos recovered

Imphal, July 31 2025:
Security forces arrested five cadres of different armed groups and recovered arms and ammunition during search operation conducted in different areas.
According to Manipur Police Control Room, a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (Pro) identified as Ningombam Sanatomba Meitei (42) alias Nanao alias Gomei of Taothong Khunou was arrested from his residence on Wednesday.
A mobile handset, two SIM cards and an Aadhaar card were recovered from him.
Security forces also arrested a cadre of the proscribed RPF/PLA identified as Konjengbam Jiten Singh (38) and his associate Khongbantabam Priyobarta Meitei alias Tomba alias Abung (37), both from Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai.
The two arrested from near Ngaikhong Khunou check point are accused of involvement in extortion from contractors, businessmen and public in Imphal and Bishnupur areas.

From their possession, one silver colour Maruti 800 car (ML-04B-0783) and two mobile phones were seized.
A cadre of KCP(PWG) identified as Md Azam of Khurai Thangjam Chingya Leikai was arrested from Kairang Chingya Leikai under Heingang police station.
A wallet and Aadhaar card were seized from him.
Similarly, security forces arrested another cadre of KCP (PWG) identified as Khundongbam Ashothama Singh alias Apom (35) of Heirok Part-II from Heirok Narengpati Loukon on July 29.He was involved in extortion, threatening of public and recruitment of cadres in Thoubal district area, according to the Control Room.
One each mobile phone, SIM card and numberless Honda.Activa have been recovered from the captive.
Meanwhile, Manipur police recovered four SLRs and eight magazines from Langathel Hangoipat under Khongjom police station on Wednesday.
Police also recovered one country-made pistol and three country-made single barrel rifles from Buallian village under Churachandpur police station.
While conducting search operation at Songphel village near Dampi hill under Churachandpur police station, security forces recovered 14 single barrel rifles, nine IEDs, eight Pompi ammunition, twenty three 12-bore cartridges, ten .303 ammunition, three each .303 casings and helmets, two Baofeng radio sets, one pistol with magazine and 9mm ammunition.
Moreover, three single barrel rifles, four 12-bore cartridges, one each Pompi and 7.62 mm round, four Pompi ammunition, two 5.56 mm casings and four tear smoke shells were recovered by security forces from Tollen village under Churachandpur police station on Wednesday.
