Governor bats for spruce-up of Loktak Lake

Imphal, August 29 2024:
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited the Loktak Lake and INA complex in Moirang, Bishnupur district on Thursday, accompanied by Moirang MLA Th Shanti.
During the visit, the Governor took a motorboat ride from Sendra Boat House.
While interacting with the media, the Governor said that he felt mesmerised by the beauty of the lake, and expressed confidence that developing the lake further into a major tourist attraction would facilitate employment generation and enhance income of the people living in the area.
He also assured of putting his best efforts for resolving the current crisis in the state at the earliest.
From Loktak lake, the Governor went to the INA complex where he paid floral tributes to the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
He also offered prayer at Moirang Kangla located inside the complex and explored the INA War Museum.
Later, he visited INA headquarters at Moirang Konjengbam Leikai, where he stressed the need for developing the INA HQ as a centre of tourism and assured all possible aid from his side.
On the other-hand, Central Agricultural University (CAU) vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra called on Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Raj Bhavan and highlighted developmental activities taken up by the University in the agricultural sector for the development of agronomy in the state and North East in general.
According to a Raj Bhavan statement, the vice chancellor and the Governor also discussed on potential of bio-economy in the state products.
The Governor lauded the contribution of the University and encouraged to continue their efforts for the development of the state in the field of agriculture.
Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSRE), Imphal director N Khoibi Singh also called on the Governor along with two colleagues and provided an update on the various programmes and courses offered for persons with disabilities.
Governor Acharya commended their initiatives and instructed that their efforts should persist in the best interest of persons with disabilities while also assuring to extend support to their efforts.
