The Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) has issued Japanese Encephalitis (JE) alert in its area advising people to take preventive measures to avoid vector borne diseases effectively.
With cases of Japanese Encephalitis reported from the town and its surrounding villages, Kakching Municpal area is now a 'High Risk Zone', said a notification of the KMC.
As preventive measures, the KMC has advised people in the town and adjoining villages to inspect, clean and disinfect any water logging areas around their houses like wells, open tanks, drains, old tyres, broken vessels and all sheds of domestic animals including pig sheds to prevent breeding of mosquito larvae, which is a main vector of spreading Japanese Encephalitis and other mosquito borne disease like Dengue.
Disinfection and cleaning of pig sheds should be consider mandatory during rainy season, filing which legal action may be taken up against individuals concerned, said KMC.
