Imphal, February 26 2025: Spear Corps General Officer Commanding Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar concluded a two-day visit to Red Shield Division, Leimakhong on Wednesday.

Informing that the general officer conducted a comprehensive review of the operational preparedness of the formation and held detailed discussions with senior military commanders, focusing on the unique challenges in Manipur and the way forward, a PRO Defence Wing release said as part of the visit, the GOC inaugurated the 'Kurukshetra' Multi-Purpose Complex, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with modern IT infrastructure, video conferencing capabilities, and operational tools.

Designed to accommodate over 200 personnel, the facility will serve as a venue for lectures, discussions, meetings, and seminars.

The GOC also commended all ranks of the Indian Army for their unwavering professionalism, commitment, and appreciated their high morale and dedication to maintaining peace and security in the state.

On the other-hand, the Indian Army's Spear Corps organised an ex-servicemen rally at Leisang Football Ground, in Churachandpur district on Wednesday to honour veterans' sacrifices, strengthen ties with the ex-servicemen community, address the veterans' concerns and ensure their well-being.

Spear Corps GOC Lt Gen Abhijit Pendharkar, and Red Shield Division GOC Major General SS Kartikeya, attended the rally alongside 860 veterans, 28 Veer Naris, 47 war widows, their families, and Army officials.

Themed "Veterans: Building the Nation Beyond the Battlefield," the rally paid tribute to gallantry awardees and Veer Naris while recognising veterans' role in nation-building and security.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest Lt Gen Pendharkar expressed gratitude for their service and reiterated the Army's commitment to their welfare.

To provide direct assistance, the rally featured grievance cells, banking services, and a treasury office, addressing pension concerns and financial planning.

Free medical check-ups and consultations were conducted by specialists from the army and district hospital, with a dedicated counter for distributing essential medicines, said the PRO in another release, adding that the event successfully reinforced the enduring bond between the Indian Army and its veterans, reflecting the values of camaraderie, respect, and unwavering support that define the armed forces.
