Staff shortage compounds power woes in Moreh

Moreh, April 25 2022: Frequent outages of power almost every day and shortage of manpower in the electricity department to address the same is causing serious inconveniences to public of the border town of Moreh.

A team Moreh based media persons approached MSPDCL officials to enquire about frequent power cuts in the border town Monday during which a staffer informed that only five staff including one manager, two deputy managers and two regular linemen have been overseeing power supply in the border town.

Moreover one of the linemen will be retiring very soon, he said while adding that the five staffers are looking after around 100 transformers installed in about 100 villages falling under Moreh sub division and hence it is very difficult for them ensure efficient operation of all the transformers and power lines.

The staff also said that around 40 transformers are functioning within Moreh town while around 60 transformers are operational in villages near Moreh.

Though MSPDCL engaged some linemen on daily wage basis, it is very difficult for linemen at the time of power outage and technical failure.

Meanwhile, Moreh based community leaders appealed to authority concerned to look into frequent outage of power and appoint regular staff so that the border town have un-interrupted power supply.

They also urged authority concerned to provide vehicle for linemen.
