Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) also demanded that the upcoming CAU recruitment exam should have at-least a centre in the state.
Terming as unfortunate that Imphal has been excluded for conduct of the recruitment examination for different vacancies in CAU, like Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Upper Division Clerk (UDC) and Field cum Laboratory Assistant (FCLA), DESAM insisted that authorities concern must allot one of the examination centres in Manipur.
Addressing media persons on Tuesday, DESAM president Mayengbam Somorjit said the order issued by CAU registrar on December 16, regarding the recruitment exam for various vacancies for the varsity, missing constituent colleges in Manipur from the list of examination centres was strongly con-demnable.
Allotting examination centres in Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim, Meghalaya and Mizoram while ignoring Manipur will create serious issues to candidates of the state, he said, while elaborating that with the unrest situation in Manipur affecting all sections of the society, majority of job aspirants would not be able to afford high travelling costs at this juncture.
As such, the CAU vice chancellor and chancellor should discuss the matter and allot examination centre in Manipur, Somorjit reasoned.
He also said that DESAM will submit a memorandum to authority concerned regarding the recruitment exam scheduled on January 3 and 4, 2025, and appealed to the state's authorities to mount pressure to CAU authorities for the same.
A delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Manipur, led by state secretary Gautam Pnilem and joint secretary RK Yaikhom-ba, met the vice-chancellor of Central Agricultural University (CAU) on Tuesday, urging for enlisting Imphal as a centre for the upcoming non ^teaching recruitment examination.

Highlighting the hardships likely to be faced by candidates, many of whom come from humble backgrounds, ABVP pointed out that the expenses for flights, accommodations, and other arrangements are a major burden.
The delegation appealed to the vice-chancellor to either include Imphal as an exam ination centre or postpone the test until a favourable situation arises, while raising the issue of financial stress and accessibility on behalf of the candidates.
In response, the vice-chancellor acknowledged the concerns and assured the delegation that the university would seek intervention from the chief minister to ensure adequate security arrangements for conducting the examination in Imphal.
