National Science Day observance concludes

The 5-day National Science Day 2024 observance organised by Manipur Science and technology Council (MASTEC) in association with STFM, MAPS, MASA and JNIMS concluded at MASTEC complex, Takyel on Friday.
The valedictory function of the observance held under the theme "Indigenous technologies for Vikshit Bharat" was attended by Science and Technology joint secretary Ch Sachi, CAU College of Food Technology dean Prof Ng Iboyaima, Science and Technology director Homila Hongri and MASTEC director Dr L Maniketan as members onthe dais.
In his address, Ng Iboyaima emphasised importance of the people of the state, especially the student community, understanding the distinction between invention and innovation.
He highlighted abundance of indigenous products and plants in the state, noting that by sustainably utilising these resources, the state could diversify its product range, spur economic growth and foster entrepreneurship.
During the event, the State Science Communicator award for 2023 was presented to former agriculture department scientist Dr M Thoithoi, while the Dr Prabhavati Science Popularization award was handed over to high school teachers Oinam Ranjit and Huidrom Premkumar.
In addition to honouring winners of the National Science Day 2024, students who achieved top positions in the Mathematics Day 2023 were also felicitated at the function.
