Imphal, August 23 2024:
Anal Naga Tangpi/Anal Naga Union (ANTA), an apex body of the Anal tribe, has decried transfer of Chandel medical officer (gynaecology) Dr PS Shangreihow and demanded the government to revoke the order issued by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on Thursday for temporary utilisation of Dr Shangreihow at CHC, Jiribam for three months.
In a release, ANTA president Pashel Monihring Anal and general secretary TS Larni stated that the order for transfer amid the Chandel DH facing shortage of doctors and specialists is infuriating the people of Chandel district.
The DHS undermining the importance to ensure posting of adequate number of doctors and nurses at the Chandel district hospital is akin to denying rights of the denizens to access better healthcare services, ANTA expressed and reminded authority concerned that in the past too local specialist doctors, general doctors and nurses were transferred from the DH without according importance to the healthcare sector in the district.
Moreover, non-residential doctors and nurses deputed at the DH, Chandel create serious inconveniences to the public during health emergency.
Therefore, considering the problems faced by the public, the latest transfer order should be revoked immediately failing which measures that could cause embarrassment to the state government might be resorted to, ANTA cautioned.
The Anal organisation further said that the local doctors and nurses, who have been transferred from DH, Chandel to other districts hospitals, must be immediately reinstated to the Hospital in the interest of Chandel denizens.
