Imphal, May 23 2025:
The Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) has appealed to the Education Department to frame a new policy to bring uniformity to the transfer and posting of teachers of Government Higher Secondary Schools in the State.
In a release, FESOK stated that a uniform transfer policy for teachers will ensure fair and equitable distribution of teachers across different schools in the State while also maintaining stability in schools.
FESOK mentioned that the lack of standardized procedures for transferring teachers has led to inequitable distribution of teachers, impacting student learning and teacher workloads.
FESOK also pointed out a number of cases where teachers have been found utilising political patronage and allegiance to get themself transferred from rural to Imphal areas for their own benefit.
"Due to lack of a uniform policy, many schools are understaffed, while others have more than the required number of teachers, creating imbalances in the pupil-teacher ratio", it added.
Furthermore, FESOK urged the Education Department to take necessary steps to frame a uniform transfer policy so that transfers could be carried out in a transparent manner.
