The All Manipur Anti Drug Association held a drug awareness programme to spread awareness on the adverse impacts of drugs in society.
The programme, which was participated by students was held at the Thambal Academy, Haoreibi Konjin Leikai in Thoubal District.
In a press release Deputy Secretary, HRD, AMADA Headquarter L Tombi Leima informed that AMADA which was founded on December 20, 2005 with the main objective of saving Manipur from an ever increasing drug menance has been implementing various measures to control the drug menace in Manipur.
The press release informed that starting from October 2006 under the supervision of Secretary, Human Resource Development, AMADA has organized 40 drug awareness programmes in different parts of Manipur including the hill districts.
The press release said that continuing their campaign on drug control measures, a drug awareness programme was held at Thambal Academy, Haoreibi Konjin Leikai today as the 41st edition of the awareness programmes held by AMADA.
The press release stated that the drug awareness programme was participated by Advocate S Hemanta who spoke on the topic " Illicit Trafficking", Psychiatrist , District Hospital Bishnupur,Dr H Agomcha and Superintendent of Narcotics Control Bureau, Regional Unit, Imphal , RK Ibungosana enlightened the participants on the topics "Substance Abuse in Adolescent" , " Effect of psychotropic drugs in the body" and "Drug Abuse Prone to Young Students and its Remedy" respectively.
