Kakching MLA inspects Ithei tributaries

Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar accompanied by Minor Irrigation Department officials inspected the tributaries of Ithei, which are not only irrigating the paddy fields but also supplying water to many households in the area.
The MLA was accompanied by Minor Irrigation commissioner Ningthoujam Geoffrey, joint secretary Polem Lenin, chief engineer RK Dipankumar Salam, executive engineer Division-I Dayananda Thounaojam, assistant engineer Thoubal Sub Division Michael Moirangthem, section officers Wahengbam Biman and Yumnam Ingocha.
The inspection covered Kakching Ithei Maru Pickup Weir Dam to Pallel, Kakching Lourel, Kakching Makha Leikai Keithel Macha, Kakching Bazar and also Kakching Ithei Khong, Kakching Kendra and Loushi Pat in Wangjing Tentha and Kharung Pat in Wabagai AG; They also inspected Loushi Ching Kakpham Dam at Kharung Pat and the historical Kakching Irum river, currently be ing maintained by Working Committee on Rejuvenation of Irum Turel Head Office, Kakching and the locals.
In this regard, MLA Rameshwar assured to work together with the Department concerned to ensure paddy fields of Kakching remain green throughout the year, while also ensur-ing'adequate production.
He said that the inspection was carried out after the locals requested for looking and cleaning the areas adjacent to Loushipat and Kharungpat.
He expressed hope that the department officials would look into the matter and address grievances of the people.
The MLA further assured to develop the two tributaries, Sengmai and Ethei Khong flowing from Ethei Maru Pick up Weir Dam to Pallel on par with current times and renovate Kakching Irum Turel to its original state, thereby helping to increase the yield.
Minor Irrigation commissioner Ningthoujam Geoffrey assured to protect the paddy fields of Kakching, which is known as the rice bowl of the state, but is facing threat due to natural and man-made activities.
He also sought the support of the people in this regard.
The officials also inspected tributaries in Langath-el, Papal and other areas of Thoubal district.
