Churachandpur, April 19 2025:
Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) in collaboration with the Kuki Women Union (KWU) on Saturday organised a sit in protest at two places of N Zalenphai and Phualjang from 11 am to preempt the alleged free movement attempts by people from the valley areas by trekking into the Thangjing hill ranges.
The protest is a movement on the part of the womenfolk to thwart any attempt to move into the Kuki-Zo territories before the political demands of the Kuki-Zos are conceded by the central government.

Talking to TPC, KWOHR spokesperson Rebecca said they have been driven out of the Imphal valley irrespective of whether they want or not and in the process many were killed, allegedly tortured and raped, besides allegedly reducing their properties to ashes.
Chipping in, KWOHR president Ngaineikim asserted that until and unless their political demand for Union Territory (UT) is granted, no movement will be allowed into the Kuki Zo territory and they will continue to protest for their demand.
During the protest, the womenfolk chanted slogans and held placards such as 'Don't politicise Chingkaba (Trekking into hills)'; 'We can live without Meetei'; 'No political solution, no Meetei in Kukiland'; 'The hills are safe without Meetei'; 'We are still at war you are not welcome'; etc .
