Workshop cum production of 'Meitei Wari Leeba' concludes

Bishnupur, October 18 2026: The valedictory function of workshop cum production of 'Meitei Wari Leeba' was held today at Moirang Lamkhai in Bishnupur district.

Puwari Khongul Liba Lup (PKLL) organised the 5-day workshop cum production programme under the aegis of Chief Ministergi Artiste Singi Tengbang Scheme 2025-26, Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur.

The valedictory function was graced by Dr L Sadhana, Curator of INA War Museum cum Library; K Mohonchandra, advisor of Thangjing Yageirel Marup and Dr Th Gourabidhu, Senior Scientist of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Shillong as the presidium members.

In today's programme, Meitei Wari Liba artiste Yumnamcha Nongdamlel Mangang presented a narration on 'Taibang Meeoipok ki Langon asida Tolliba Laman Mari' while renowned singer Lalambung Imo presented a performance on Pena Seithaba.

Dr L Sadhana expressed that organising such a programme focussed on promoting indigenous art forms will help the present and future generation in building a society rich in indigenous art, culture and tradition.

Speaking in connection with the programme, K Sushila Devi, Puwari Khongul Luba Lup, vice-president and retired Director, Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur stressed that the organisation has been working earnestly to promote indigenous art forms of Manipur.

The organisation is focussed on keeping alive the ancient art forms by sensitising the current generation through various programmes, she said.
