Imphal, April 18 2026:
In a significant move toward cultural preservation, the Assam Rifles collaborated with the local community of Sehlon village to observe World Heritage Day.
As per a release issued by HQ IGAR (South), the initiative aimed to cultivate a shared sense of guardianship over the region's rich legacy, a goal particularly vital in Manipur's current social landscape.
The proceedings began with a collaborative cleanliness drive.
Assam Rifles troops worked alongside local residents to rejuvenate shared village spaces, serving as a tangible reminder of the need to maintain and honor heritage sites.
This spirit of collective action transitioned into a visual awareness campaign, with informative posters displayed throughout the village to stimulate dialogue on conservation.
An insightful discussion session was also held to highlight how safeguarding local history secures a foundation for future generations.
The atmosphere turned celebratory as school children performed traditional dances, bringing the village's heritage to life through rhythmic storytelling.
Around 58 villagers participated wholeheartedly in the festivities.
Beyond a simple commemoration, the event served as a platform for strengthening community bonds.
By focusing on shared history and collective responsibility, the initiative underscored the importance of cultural unity in fostering lasting peace and mutual respect within the State.
