10,000 fish fingerlings released into Ijei river in Noney

Noney, August 17 2026:
The District Administration, Noney, today released 10,000 fish fingerlings into the Ijei River at Makhuam-4, as part of an initiative to promote fishery resources and support livelihood opportunities for local communities.
The fish stocking programme was led by Deputy Commissioner, Noney, in the presence of the District Fisheries Officer and SDO, Haochong.
The fingerlings released comprised Common Carp, Grass Carp and Rohu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner urged the local community to make sustainable use of the fishery resources created through the initiative and appealed to the people to protect the stocked fish population so that the benefits of the programme could be sustained in the long term.
