Assam Rifles organises blood donation and medical camp in Thoubal

Thoubal, June 17 2026:
Demonstrating its commitment towards humanitarian service and community welfare, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, Lions Club Thoubal Greater Centurion and Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, organised a voluntary blood donation drive and medical camp at the Unit Hospital, Thoubal district today.
According to IGAR (South), tshe initiative was conducted in connection with World Blood Donor Day 2026 under the theme, "One Drop of Humanity.
Give Blood, Save Lives." The drive seamlessly merged critical medical aid with voluntary life-giving contributions to reinforce the local healthcare framework and replenish emergency reserves.
The blood donation drive witnessed participation from members of the security forces and civil society, reflecting collective responsibility towards saving lives.
Over 73 stakeholders, including 68 dedicated uniformed personnel, voluntarily donated blood under the strict supervision of specialised medical teams from the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, located in Imphal West district, and the State Blood Transfusion Council.
Along with the donation drive, a medical camp was also organised to provide health check-ups and necessary medical assistance to local residents and personnel.
Around 90 participants benefited from the medical outreach programme.
The humanitarian outreach was further elevated by the joint monitoring of prominent health administrators and social workers, including Dr AK Brogen Singh, Dr Jotin Okram, L Sanatombi Devi, Y Guneshwari Devi and L Pratap Singh.
The collaborative initiative helped replenish blood reserves and enhance emergency medical preparedness in the region while further strengthening the bond between Assam Rifles and the local community through service and compassion.
