Imphal, February 17 2026: Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organised a tree plantation drive across the villages of Aishi, Kultuk and Maulvilup with active participation from the local community.

The initiative was aimed at promoting environmental awareness, encouraging collective responsibility in conservation, and strengthening civil-military relations in the region, said a press note issued by IGAR (S) .

Residents of the three villages, including men, women and youth, joined the drive with enthusiasm, planting a significant number of saplings in and around their localities.

Assam Rifles provided saplings, tools, water supply and complete logistical support to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

Notably, the plantation drive is expected to yield long-term benefits such as improved air quality, prevention of soil erosion, enhanced groundwater retention and increased green cover.
