ATMA launches four-day tree plantation drive

Imphal, July 14 2026: The All Timber Merchant Association (ATMAThoubal, in collaboration with clubs from various villages in Thoubal district, launched a four-day tree plantation programme on Tuesday by planting around 500 saplings at five locations.

The drive is being organised in connection with the 77th Van Mahotsav 2026 under the aegis of the Forest Department.

During the inaugural programme, saplings were planted at Yairipok Heibi Makhong Ground, Yairipok Malom Jalihanbi Ground, Yairipok Malom roadside, Yairipok Singa Ground and Yairipok Singa hillside.

Speaking on the occasion, association secretary Ph Gulson said the plantation drive was organised in support of the Government's Van Mahotsav campaign to help combat environmental degradation.

Stressing the need for collective action to protect the environment, he said preserving the ecological balance is a shared responsibility and urged people to plant more trees to help restore and safeguard the environment.
