Assam Rifles steps up Har Ghar Tiranga, Vande Mataram celebrations across Manipur

CCpur/Kak/Cdl/Kam, August 12 2026: Assam Rifles has launched a series of patriotic and community-oriented initiatives across Manipur under the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, combining patriotic outreach with skill development, women empowerment and youth engagement.

The initiatives began on August 1 at the Kinepna Women Empowerment Centre in Churachandpur district, where local women took up the hand-stitching of Indian National Flags in different sizes.

IGAR (South) in a statement said that the initiative aims to turn traditional tailoring craftmanship into a viable enterprise, providing local women with sustainable livelihood opportunities while producing handcrafted Tricolours for homes, educational institutions and public offices in the region.

As part of the campaign, Assam Rifles conducted simultaneous activities in Kakching, Chandel and Kamjong districts on August 12.In Kakching district, a Tiranga Run was organised with the participation of 100 Assam Rifles personnel and 450 students of Assam Rifles Public School, Kakching.

An awareness session on the history and unifying legacy of the National Flag during the freedom movement was also held, followed by a salute to the Tricolour and a pledge for national integrity.

In Chandel district a Tiranga Run was organised at Modi village to mark the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.

Assam Rifles personnel ran alongside local Agniveer and Territorial Army aspirants undergoing pre-recruitment training.

The activity focused on promoting physical fitness and teamwork among the youth while fostering a spirit of national service.

Meanwhile, in Kamjong district, a National Flag Distribution Drive was held at Kasong village, where Assam Rifles personnel interacted with around 50 residents and distributed National Flags, encouraging households to proudly display the Tricolour.

The Assam Rifles said the initiatives were aimed at connecting remote and border villages with nationwide patriotic celebrations while strengthening civil-military relations, promoting self-reliance and fostering a spirit of unity across Manipur.
