Governor meets CSOs, IDPs in CCpur

CCpur, August 12 2024:
After assuming charge as Governor of Manipur, Lakshman Prasad Acharya paid his maiden visit to Churachandpur district on Monday.
Governor Acharya was received by IGP Nishit Ujjwal and Churachandpur DC Dharun Kumar at DC's office complex where he led a pledge taking ceremony and flagged off a bike rally organised as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign-2024.The rally participated by members of Royal Riders as well as others started from the DCs office complex and ended at the starting point after covering Pearsonmun village.
Later, the Governor visited relief camp managed by Kuki Christian Church (KCC) at Molnom in Tuibong sub-division, where he interacted with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) .
The Governor also distributed relief materials including wheel chairs, drinking water and sweets as well study materials to children staying in the relief camp.
He assured that the government is making concerted efforts to expedite return of peace and normalcy in the state so that all IDPs can return safely to their respective homes.
The Governor also directed the district administration to provide all requirements including foods and medicines to the IDPs.
Later, the Governor held a meeting with members of various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), students of Churachandpur Medical College and other student leaders, who submitted memorandum to the Governor in the presence of three MLAs.
During the interaction, leaders of Zomi Council, Zo'mi Students' Federation (ZSF), Kuki Inpi and Hmar Inpui informed the Governor about problems being faced by students and appealed to the Governor for addressing their issues and to play an instrumental role in fulfilling the demand of a separate administration.
