DMCAA urges for addressing DMU issues

Expressing concern over specific issues confronting DM University, DM College Alumni Association (DMCAA) has urged authority concerned to take necessary measures for solving the problems at the earliest for protecting academic career of students.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday, DMCAA president N Ibohal highlighted how the ongoing situation has profoundly impacted students' lives and future.
He emphasised the need for appointment to essential positions, including a regular vice-chancellor, registrar, controller of examinations, finance officer, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff, to prevent further harm to students' careers.
Ibohal also noted that the education minister has reportedly initiated steps to recruit the necessary teaching and non-teaching staff, which is a positive development.
He expressed hope that these efforts would come to fruition in the coming days.
Additionally, Ibohal raised concern over the delay in conducting semester exams, while cautioning that this could jeopardise the academic careers of undergraduate students.
Furthermore, timely meetings of the Board of Management and Academic Council are necessary to ensure smooth functioning of the university.
He also underscored the importance of maintaining DM University's autonomy under the UGC Act.
