AR organises Vande Mataram, Har Ghar Tinranga campaigns

Imphal, August 10 2026: Assam Rifles conducted a series of civic action and youth-focused outreach programmes across Manipur from August 4 to 10 as part of the nationwide commemoration of 150 years of "Vande Mataram" and the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign.

According to a statement issued by IGAR (South), the activities were conducted across Chandel, Kakching, Ukhrul and Kamjong districts with the objectives of promoting national consciousness, strengthening civil-military relations, encouraging youth development, provide career guidance and fostering community participation in cleanliness and other civic initiatives.

From August 4 to 9, an annual training camp and youth outreach programme was organised at Kha Manipur College, Kakching, involving 65 Assam Rifles personnel and Associate NCC Officers and 450 NCC cadets.

The camp focused on physical fitness, discipline and social confidence, while special health and sanitation sessions were conducted for girl cadets.

Educational sessions covered historical events including the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891 and Khongjom War Memorial.

Career guidance was also provided on entry opportunities in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, along with a supervised display of military equipment.

As part of "Vande Mataram" and "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaigns, National Flags were distributed and participants collectively rendered the national song" .

In Chandel, an awareness programme was held at Joupi Government Aided Primary School on August 9, involving 10 Assam Rifles personnel, 30 students and five teachers.

The programme featured the rendition of "Vande Mataram", discussions on its historical role in India's freedom movement, poster displays and distribution of National Flags.

Simultaneously, an awareness session at Mombi in Chandel District involved 22 Assam Rifles personnel and local residents, focusing on the legacy of the national song in building national consciousness across generations.

At Pallel in Chandel, 50 local residents, including 25 women and 25 men, joined Assam Rifles personnel in a Swachhata Abhiyan on August 9 .

On August 10, a "Tiranga Run 2026" was organised at Mombi village under the theme "Har Ghar Tiranga - Desh Ki Shaan" .

Twentyeight villagers, including eight women, 15 men and five children, participated in a 1.5-km run alongside security personnel.

National Flags were also distributed door-to-door to encourage residents to hoist the Tricolour at their homes.

Meanwhile, the 150th anniversary of "Vande Mataram" was commemorated at Shangshak Garrison in Ukhrul, where 45 students and 10 teaching staff joined troops in a Tricolour march while raising patriotic slogans.

In Kamjong district, a Tiranga Rally was conducted from Kongkan Post to Lakhan Khuman village, with troops and local residents carrying the National Flag and participating in the event aimed at fostering social cohesion and mutual trust.
