Covid-19 case detected in state, patient traceless

Imphal, June 10 2025: The state confirmed detection of a new Covid-19 positive case on June 8, the first since the last positive case was recorded in March 2023.The Covid-19 patient, a 23-year old female student of Manipur University is originally from Ngaikhong Khullen in Bishnupur district but was staying in a rented quarter at Ghari Awang Leikai in Imphal West district.

She underwent two tests for Covid 19 on June 5 after suspicious symptoms of the contagious disease, with the result on June 8 turning positive.

However, when staffers of the Health Department went to her residence to record case history on Monday, it was found that the patient had already left Imphal for internship in Hyderabad without any formal intimation to the department, said sources, adding that she has no travel history.

Health Department has launched contact tracing in the area where the patient had stayed.

It may be mentioned that active Govid-19 Case in the country has reached 6,815 including 324 new cases detected and three fatalities on Tuesday.

A report issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that the three victims were from Delhi, Jharkhand and Kerala.
