Multiple bird traps seized

In a continued effort to curb bird trapping, the Thoubal Forest Range staff, under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer of Thoubal, Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee, carried out an extensive drive in areas of Samaram Loukol and Tentha Ekop Pat, during which several bird traps were recovered.
The operation was led by Forester Khangemba Deepak under the guidance of Thoubal Forest Range Officer Dineschandra Salam.
Beginning early in the morning, the team pattrolled vulnerable zones of Samaram Loukol and Ekop Pat, known habitats for migratory birds, and removed multiple traps laid by poachers.
Forester Khangemba Deepak stated that such drives are being carried out regularly at various locations to ensure the safety and protection of migratory birds arriving in the State.
He expressed concern that traps continue to be discovered during every operation, terming the practice "very unfortunate" .
Appealing to the public, he urged citizens not to lay traps or harm birds, stressing the need to protect wildlife and preserve ecological balance.
