Koireng-led UNLF greets on 38th MPA Raising Day

Imphal, February 08 2025: The proscribed Koireng-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) greeted the people on the occasion of 38th Raising Day of its military wing, Manipur People's Army (MPA), to be celebrated on Sunday (February 9).On the occasion, UNLF's Military Affairs Committee (MAC) paid revolutionary salutes to the fallen revolutionaries and extended solidarity with their families.

Reaffirming organisation's commitment to continue the ongoing struggle for regaining the lost sovereignty of Manipur, UNLF's MAC shared critical information relating to MPA and the ongoing sovereignty movement.

According to a MAC statement issued by publicity secretary M Shak-Hen, the recent policy and action being taken up by the Government of India (Gol) - particularly utilisation of armed Kukis from Myanmar in waging war to distort Manipur and heavy militarisation in WESEA region to convert the region into a battlefield with the influence of foreign powers allied with India - have given a completely new dimension to Manipur's sovereignty movement.

Nevertheless, the emerging situation has intensified the need for a stronger and more unified resistance, noted the statement.

Elaborating on strategic and tactical measures being adopted in response to the emerging situation, the MAC said that the organisation viewed armed Kuki groups as nothing less than extension of Gol's state machinery primarily used to destabilise Manipur and weaken sovereignty movement.

From strategic point of view, armed Kuki groups being utilised by Gol have become the enemy of the Indian state like Manipur, and unified strength of revolutionaries, village volunteers and those who came out for defending the land is required for confronting them.

In terms of tactical response, the MAC suggested that countering armed Kuki groups should be led by village volunteers of the area where the Kukis launch attacks but there must be preparation for sending reinforcement when required.

"It is, on the other hand, natural for revolutionaries to fight Indian security forces, who have been occupying Manipur," the MAC statement said and appealed to people to discuss all points related to strategy and tactics.

While calling for greater unity among resistance groups, village volunteers and patriotic civilians to effectively counter India's strategy, the MAC statement said that the security forces deployed in Manipur in the name of tackling Meetei-Kuki conflict has reached 1.5 lakh.

The main objective of the huge military deployment in Manipur is to suppress and weaken sovereignty movement, the MAC said and stressed the need for effectively countering Gol's strategy with unified strength.

It also added that the time has come for the people to prepare for a people's war.

Offering revolutionary salutes to fallen fighters and extending solidarity with the families of martyrs on the occasion, the organisation acknowledged the recentbattles including the drone attack by KNA-B forces, in which 200 bombs were dropped on a revolutionary camp.

Despite the damage and casualties, the MAC lauded the courage of revolutionaries who fought the attackers firmly.
